Melinda Smythe


Born in Toronto, Melinda started her physical training in the Seneca Elite gymnastics program, and pursued her competitive dance training at All That Dance Studio for over 10 years. Melinda achieved many scholarships, awards and titles during her time as a competitive dancer in both Canada and the United States.  Melinda studied dance at the Claude Watson Arts program, and is currently continuing her dance education at Western University.  She is a well-rounded dancer and teacher with extensive experience in ballet, tap, ballet, modern and contemporary forms of dance, with her favorite style being acro. 

In addition to her dancing experiences, Melinda has also expanded her skills into the film and television industry in Toronto.  Her notable projects include the role of "Morgan" on Family Channel’s The Next Step, and she most recently appeared as a dancer in David Ayer's blockbuster superhero film Suicide Squad, starring Will Smith and Jared Leto.

Melinda is a passionate individual who loves teaching children of all ages, with motivations to help her students explore and develop their knowledge and love for dance.  She is thrilled to be part of En Avant Dance's faculty for 2016-17!
